Looking for a Good Summer Reading - Watch these Reviews

These Book Reviews were created by my ELA class.  A green screen and green screen app were used to make the back ground a picture of the book.  The iMovie app was used for the recording.   Both apps were merged together to make the final presentation.

Writing: Informative/Explanatory (3 Examples)

Today I will show you how to make the world famous Mason sandwich.  A few ingredients are needed in order to make this sandwich.  A plate will also be needed. Once the sandwich is complete, you will have a delicious meal.

The ingredients needed are bread, already cooked bacon, lettuce, and tomato. You will also need a plate, knife and a microwave.  Time is needed in order to prepare the ingredients.   

Use the the plate to place the ingredients down.  Use a microwave to heat up the bacon.  Use the knife to chop up the the lettuce and tomato.  
Now you put all the ingredients together.  First, place the bread on the plate. Then on top of that put the bacon, lettuce and tomato.  Finally, another slice of bread gets put on top.  After you put all the ingredients together it's time to eat.
Hopefully you like the sandwich. It's so easy to make and tastes so good. Also it doesn't take a lot of stuff to make.

     Do you know how to throw a football. If you don't, then listen to these instructions. To start, you have to make an L shape with your arm while holding the football. Then you need to grip the football with your hand and make a c grip on the football. Next ,you have to let the ball roll off your fingertips while throwing the ball.
     First, You have lift your arm and make an L shape with your arm with the football in your hand. Raise your arm so the elbow is level with your shoulder.  Make a 90 degree angle with your arm in the air. Make sure your hand is above your head.
     Next, make a C grip. You have to grip the ball with your fingers on the laces of the football and make a C grip with your hand on the football. Your fingers need to be in between each lace on the football.
     Last, throw the ball. You need to face your shoulder at your target . While releasing the ball out of your hand, let the ball roll off your fingers starting with the pinky and ending with the index finger. After letting it roll, end with the indexfinger pointing at your target.
   And that's how you are supposed to throw a football the right way.  If you listened to these instructions then you will know how to throw a football.

HOW TO MAKE CRAYON HEARTS

    Did you know you could take old or new crayons and turn them into a colorful heart crayon?  To make these some things you will need are crayons, heart molds, and a oven.  There are a few steps you will need to follow in order to make the heart crayon.  When they are done you can do a few things with them.

    The first step is to preheat your oven to 150 degrees.  When it's  done preheating gather the materials you will need.  Four to five different colored crayons is enough.  You'll also need a heart shaped mold.

 These are the steps you need to follow to make your heart crayons.  First, take 4-5 crayons of your choice and break them into small pieces.  The next step is to put your broken crayons in the mold, after that put them in the oven for 15 minutes. The last step is to pop them out of the molds and ta-da you a crayon heart mold.

    They’re very cute, cool gifts to give to friends. You can even use them for coloring, relieving stress or for something fun to make.  You can make them  in less than 20 minutes! They’re fun to make, does not cause a mess, and you make as many as you want.

      

Beautiful Day to Read Outside

Rather than stay indoors for our daily 20 minutes of independent reading, we went outside & took advantage of the beautiful weather.

Less Homework by Dustyn MacKinnon

I think that we get too much homework. We already have to

work six hours a day at school and then we have to come home

and do more work. When we do have homework, not everyone

has time to come home and do it. Kids have a lot of after school

activities. Kids should have time to go outside and play and not

have to worry about their homework. Homework usually stresses

kids out and makes them hate homework even more. Homework

keeps kids up too late, then they aren't alert for school the next

day . These are my reasons of why there shouldn't be homework.

Smoking should be banned everywhere because it is

dangerous and it can kill people. Smoking harms nearly

every organ in your body. Some of these harmful effects

are immediate.  For some people, smoking is hard to

stop because you get addicted. You get addicted because

of a drug in the tobacco called nicotine. There have been

over 7,000 bad chemicals identified in secondhand

smoking. That is not fair to non smokers. Over 250 of the

chemicals are known to damage your health. For

example, it can cause lung cancer.

Let Them Play Football by Nick Cote

Have you ever worried about your kids

playing football? Well don't worry any more! Football has

changed over the years. In football, they have helmets

you can buy that when you're about to hit get an airbag

goes off in your helmet. It might sound crazy but it's true!

Football is also good for keeping in shape. Football is a

tough sport, but it makes your kid stronger. Most parents

don't want there children to play football

because concussions are talked about in the news a

lot. Kids could possibly get a concussion on the


playground. So don't worry let your kids play football!

Get Paid for Good Grades by Godly Suffrant

I think that kids who go to Francis Wyman Elementary should get paid for good grades. Throughout the year, kids work hard and study for test.  Kids also try to be as good as they can in order to get good grades. As a part of kid’s getting paid for good grades, they should also remember to bring in their homework, listen, follow directions, and do what the teacher asks. I know that these are some good reasons for kids to get paid for their good grades.

Recess Reward

Room 203 ELA earned 10 extra mins. of recess for appropriate behavior while waiting for teachers to return from a meeting.  Keep up the good work!
