For My Students Who Play Girls Lacrosse

Lacrosse Clinic and Instructed Wall Ball News Offered by Rewards School of Lacrosse www.rewardsschooloflacrosse.org – All options are for female student-athletes only Facility – Total Athletic Performance, 53 Knox Trail, Acton MA Saturdays/Sundays January 17/18, 24/25, 31, February 1, 7/8, 14/15, 21/22, 28, March 1 These clinics are for new student-athletes to lacrosse and elite players alike. During the Clinics students will work on specific lacrosse skills listed here: Dodging – The dodges taught are Plant and Switch, Roll Dodge, Face Dodge, Crease Roll(This is NOT just a crease drive), Rocker Dodge, Back out and Goodbye Dodge. All of these dodges are taught to give the player a strong base when redirecting her movement quickly. Shooting and Passing – Student-athletes will learn to how accurately put the ball anywhere they want whenever they want using the straight line throwing method. Accurate side-arm and Riser shots along with behind the back will also be taught to advanced players. New players will learn how to become advanced players quickly. Defensive positioning and footwork – Man to man and defending air space for zones has become increasingly important in women’s lacrosse. There is a way to play solid defense. Players will become confident through learning new footwork and defensive stick work along with new concepts. YOU can be a shutdown defender. Cradling – New and experienced players will go through a series of cradling drills. How many times have you seen too much cradling? It happens all the time. Because a player is not ready to shoot due to her cradle she ends up past the prime shooting area and misses the goal. Or her pass is a second too late and intercepted. Cradling exists to hang on to the ball and also protect the ball. Those who limit their cradling and understand why are stronger lacrosse players. Use of their opposite hands – When forced to switch hands in a pleasant manner lacrosse players instantly improve. We will not make it an option to switch hands. Being able to keep the ball on the outside and away from the defender allows coaches to create new plays and watch their team execute them. Specific offenses revolve around use of opposite hands. Ground Balls – Learning how to accurately pick up a ground ball while sprinting is not easy. We will break down every mechanic used and painstakingly emphasize the importance of getting low and not slowing down. This is probably every player’s least favorite thing to work on. It’s also one of the most important. Expect to be sore after working on this. oaches and parents are more than welcome to watch the clinics their student-athletes are attending.
